2020 Annual Report Summary

Updated: May 19, 2022

The key focus areas of JUST PEOPLE NOW, INC. (JPN) remain to be support of at-risk children and their families.

During this tumultuous year, we have endured political extremes, racial divides, unjust violence, global pandemic, economic crisis, deep community pain, isolation, and uncertainty.

We found ourselves asking what do we do now? How do we stay connected and serve our beloved community of young people who so desperately need love, care, and support? The Corona Virus dictated that we cancel Summer Youth Program (SYP), socially distance, and temporarily pause our signature program, SYP, and focus on care for the community.

Regardless of what the pandemic was throwing at us, JPN determined to act as best we could for our youth and our volunteers. JPN did not sit on the sidelines but acted to invest in our most precious asset, our children, and their families.

Major areas of involvement included youth support through the schools which were back in in-person learning, education and community caring projects:

  • Donated funds for back-to-school supplies and provided support for two adopted schools, Valmead and West Lenoir Elementary,

  • Donated Holiday gift cards to needy families both in JPN’s adopted schools, West Lenoir Elementary, and Valmead, and we added Horizons School to the support list.

  • Supported emergency clothes closet for Valmead and West Lenoir K-5 students.

  • Donated funds to Yokefellow and the Lenoir Emergency Outreach Shelter who provide for the most basic needs of households during this time of crisis.

STEM/STEAM Learning… JPN is committed to programs which champion

changing the odds and positively impacting opportunities for children in the community.

The organization gratefully acknowledges the community members and the professional men and women who volunteer countless hours to make JPN programs successful.

On the promise of impact yet to come, JPN attracted some first-time donors, maintained longer-term sustainers, and qualified for a small loan for youth programs. JPN is grateful for donations and investment of time and resources from donors who have a heart for at-risk youth.

JPN continues to meet all of its obligations to the Internal Revenue Service to maintain its charitable, non-profit 501 (c) (3) status.

JPN continues to increase its outreach by partnering with community organizations, adding more youth-oriented opportunities, STEM education, and life experience programs.
